Here are some things to start the year off with for your newsletters

Hi friend,

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Email Edge: each week we share something short and useful about email marketing. Our mission is to help our readers do better at email marketing. Reply and let us know if you liked it!

Most of you are back from annual vacation (hopefully well-rested) and are straight into work-mode. For others, depending on your industry, December is your busy season, and you might be taking some time off now.

With many of our clients being in the services space this has been the quieter time of the year for us. So, what we’ve been doing is some housekeeping for this newsletter. Here are our top 3  – might be helpful to you too.

Newsletter housekeeping:
  1. Sign up to your own newsletter – might sound silly but this is a great way to experience what your new subscribers experience. Plus, you’ll be able to answer these questions. Is your welcome sequence working? Is the content still relevant or could it do with a refresh?
  2. Update your newsletter footer – update any date sensitive information, check that your links are all still working and contact information is correct. It’s time to change that old Twitter logo to X.
  3. Review the processes that touch your mailing lists. We discovered that some subscribers dropped off our list because an automation rule removed them (by mistake of course).

These are small things to check but they are important! Bonus points because you’ll have accomplished something early in the year.

There are obviously more we could add to this list. What’s one piece of housekeeping that you’re doing? If your template has become stale let us help you revitalise it with a fresh new layout✨
